The lead coffin found near the body of King Richard III during archeological excavations in Leicester has taken a surprise turn!
Archaeologists had thought the 600-year-old metal casket, which was
found in a stone tomb at Greyfriars in August, might belong to
knight Sir William de Moton. But analysis is showing that the skeleton appears to be that of a female.
Working with a newly found list of burials at the Friary, scientists are attempting to discover just who is buried in this high status coffin.

The resting place of Jesus
Archaeologists exploring a 1st century Christian burial chamber have discovered an ancient inscription on a coffin lid which they believe could prove the site is the final resting place of Jesus.
Using a remote-controlled camera connected to a robotic arm to probe below a tower block in Jerusalem, the archaeologists were staggered to discover a set of 1st century 'bone boxes'.

Man wins prize for building his own coffin
Grady Hunter age 75, will take his prize-winning entry in the N.C. State Fair to the grave. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that Hunter won a blue ribbon in this year's crafts and hobbies competition by making his own coffin.
'I'm tickled to death with it," Hunter told the newspaper.
Hunter, installed three inches of foam at the thinnest point, rising to 12 inches at the head to place his body on an incline. The case has hard-rock maple and Brazilian cherry. He also routed his signature into the wood.
On the inside of the lid, Hunter plans to pin pictures of his son, daughter and grandchildren, so he can take those with him.
Hunter has even lined up pallbearers for his funeral, and he's writing his own eulogy.
