Births And Baptisms In Poplar Chapel, London County, England 1584 ~ 1799
Hi all
I have added a few more records for Poplar Chapel, London County, England.
This time it is Births And Baptisms 1584 ~ 1799. Now it is just a few records and is far from complete but it may be of interest to someone searching for ancestors in London. This new data will compliment the Poplar Chapel, London County Marriages 1670~1753 that I have had on line for some time.
If you want to have a look at the records go to Poplar Chapel Records
Good Luck

Minnie S Pace and Margaret C Clark Coffin Plates
I have added a few more Coffin Plates. Minnie S Pace and Margaret C Clark are two of the new plates. It looks like Minnie may be from KY. It is unusual to find plates from KY as it was not a common practice for people living in KY to keep the plates.

Great New Irish Databases
Hi All
Lots of great new Databases added to Ancestors At Rest this week.
People from the Fitzwilliam estate who settled in Ontario, 1847-55. In
the late 1840s a program of assisted emigration was initiated by Lord
Fitzwilliam to reduce the number of tenants on his estate in southwest
County Wicklow Ireland. Most of these emigrants sailed from New Ross to
Quebec City, but few of them stayed in Quebec, where the population was
for the most part French-speaking. Instead, they continued on up the
St. Lawrence River to the province of Ontario (then called Upper
Canada) and became part of Irish communities there. The following data
was compiled by Anne Burgess. It lists many of the Irish from the
Fitzwilliam estate who settled in the West 1/2 of Ontario, from roughly
Belleville to Lake Huron.
I have also added Tenants renting land from Earl Fitzwilliam in the
townlands of Aghold, Ardoyne, Coolboy, and Kilcavan County Wicklow
Ireland. 1839.

To Whoever Took my Work and put it on Wikipedia....
I was browsing Wikepedia and stumbled on my own article and write up about Coffin Plates. It came directly from my website in my Coffin Plates section.
Wow. Deju vu!
It was a direct copy and paste from my site with NO credit to me as the author, despite the copyright notice front and center.
Yeah, those are my words on Wikipedia. My research into the topic. My hard work.
I wouldn't care if whoever lifted it from my site and submitted it to Wikipedia had done the right thing and credited me and my site for it. Of course it'd be better if this person of questionable ethics had written to ask my permission.
So whoever you are, would you copy Steven King's latest novel and put it online? (not that I'm saying I'm in his league!) Sure you would! Your morals are questionable. Apparently you don't know right from wrong. But most of us would not do such a thing.
Internet publishing is no different than real-world publishing.
So - if someone ELSE did the work, the research and the writing, don't take credit for it (that's called plagarism) and don't take it without permission and publish it somewhere else (that's called copyright infringement)

Irish & German Immigrant Skeletons found on Staten Island
Last summer a team of archaeologists dug up skeletal bones from beneath the asphalt of a municipal parking lot in St. George, Staten Island
The bones are believed to be the remains of more than 50 19th-century European immigrants, among them victims of the Irish potato famine. There are about 10 intact adult skeletons, most of them men in their 20s and 30s. There are smaller skeletons too, but none complete as children’s bones do not survive the acidic soil.
Archaeologists have concluded that the site was a mass grave for patients quarantined at the nearby Marine Hospital. Patients died of typhus, yellow fever and other infectious diseases in the mid-1800s
More than 150 years ago the Marine Hospital was where patients were taken, and where they died in such numbers that they had to be buried in trenches, sometimes three or four bodies deep. Those were peak famine years, and most immigrants who passed through were Irish families escaping hunger and destitution and Germans fleeing political turmoil in their homeland. In 1858, the hospital burned to the ground.

Boy in Iron Coffin Identified as William White died 1852
A body in a cast iron coffin found by utility workers in Washington in 2005, has been identified.
Dozens of individuals used census records, obituaries in newspapers and DNA Testing to identify the remains as 15-year-old William Taylor White, who died in 1852.
William Taylor White was buried in the Columbia College cemetery and it appears he was simply left behind when the cemetery was moved.
White, from Accomack, Virginia was a descendant of Anthony West, one of the Jamestown settlers
The team of scientists working on finding who was buried in the coffin found an obituary published in the Daily National Intelligencer newspaper of Washington on Jan. 28, 1852, confirming White died Jan. 24, 1852, after a short illness.
Clothing historians were able to determine that he was dressed in a shirt, vest and pants that are consistent with clothing styles of the early to mid-1850s.

Getting Copies of Documents on AncestorsAtRest
Genealogists frequently ask me where and how they can get copies of a genealogy document they saw listed on my Blog (AncestorsAtRest.blogspot.com) or my website AncestorsAtRest.com
Many documents such as coffin plates, funeral cards, obituaries and family bibles are submitted to me by visitors. Sometimes they want to be contacted, so I provide their email address and name. Sometimes they don't. In those cases all you will see is their name.
Some items, especially the coffin plates, are my own private collection. I probably won't sell you the coffin plate (although you can always ask).
If I don't have a name with the items, it's either mine or it was an early submission (before I was careful about putting submitter names with those items!)
I hope you have found an interesting item for your ancestor and can enjoy the items online.

Are you related? Mummified Baby found in wall
Jul 25, 2007
A local renovator found a mummified infant wrapped in a flowered comforter and old newspaper dated Sept. 12, 1925, in the wall of a house he was working on in Riverdale, Toronto.
A land title search showed that the Kintyre Ave. home was purchased in 1919 by Wesley Russell. Newspapers report that Mr. Russell died in February, 1939 and his wife Della lived in the house until 1941, when she was admitted as a patient to Toronto Ontario Hospital. It isn't known if the baby belonged to the couple who lived in the home at the time. In fact it isn't known when or how the baby died - while the 1925 newspaper might seem like a clue, that doesn't mean the death happened that year.
Many reports and articles are circulating and some reporters have discovered a few genealogical facts about Wesley and Della - such as their marriage in Belleville Ontario in 1898. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could find more, as some papers are stating that they hope relatives will be found who might see to the burial of the infant.
Wesley Russell & Della Rutter were married 12 Oct 1898 in Belleville Ontario. Ancestry.com records do not show parents' names but the online Bridge St. Wesleyan Methodist (now United Church), Belleville records show Wesley as age 19 son of
Wellington RUSSELL & Fanny BELLKNAP
The 1901 Census finds Wesley F Russel age 21 and Della Russell, age 20, living in Ameliasburg, Prince Edward County
The 1911 Census finds Wesley Russell age 29 and Della age 25 along with Charles Rutter age 23(probably Della's brother) living at 3 Ashby St in Toronto.
Charles Ruter is found in the 1901 census for Prince Edward County with his parents James A Rutter (born ca 1851) and Emmma J. (born ca 1861) along with 2 siblings - James M born ca 1889 and a daughter born ca 1893.
Checking the online Ontario Vital Stats found James Morden Rutter born 3 Oct 1889 to James Albert Rutter and Emma Jane Babcock in Prince Edward County
More checking found other children born to James Albert Rutter and Emma Jane Babcock:
* Alla [Ella?] May Born 20 May 1893 in Prince Edward County
* Herbert or Howard born 14 Jan 1897 in Prince Edward County
Next I found the marriage of James Albert Rutter and Emma Jane Babcock on 13 Aug 1876 in Ameliasburg Township. Unfortunately the parents' names are not given
The last great clue came from the 1881 census -- James Rutter, 28, wife Emma J. 22 and two children - Sarah A age 4 and Ardelia E age 4 months, are found in Ameliasburg, Prince Edward county.
Ardelia of course is our DELLA who married Wesley Russel and who may or may not be the mother of the dead child found in the walls
I haven't found the birth of Della or Charles Rutter but many births were never registered. However I am sure that Della was a child of James Rutter and Emma Babcock.
Hopefully someone recognizes these names as being part of their family tree!
